Structure Affects Function
Posted on 2011-08-20 10:46:17
Your spinal structure affects the overall structure and function of your body. Any joint that is not moving properly is a dysfunctional joint. A dysfunctional joint will lead to joint degeneration, muscle weakness and pain. The joint will degenerate because of the altered biomechanics and lack of motion. The muscles that move the joint will weaken because they will not be able to contract properly, which will lead to less joint motion and more degeneration. Over time this negative cycle will cause pain in the muscles and joint.
Many people will assume they can ignore the problem and it will go away. What will happen is your pain levels will decrease, but the joint dysfunction will remain and the muscles will continue to weaken. When you are feeling the discomfort of joint dysfunction most people will assume they can exercise the pain and discomfort away. The problem with trying to exercise when you have a joint that is either immobile or dysfunctional is that the extra workload on the muscles will lead to more problems. The only way to correct immobile or dysfunctional joints is to restore normal joint biomechanics. The chiropractic adjustments I do are designed to restore normal joint biomechanics. This will correct the structural problem and allow your body to function at it's optimal level. Corrective chiropractic care will help you live a long, active and healthy life.
Have a great day and God Bless.

Creative Marketing is Killing You

Did you realize that companies are marketing junk food to sound and look like healthy foods? Many foods will advertise that they contain fruits like blueberries or strawberries, but in reality they contain sugars, food additives and dangerous food dyes to make it appear that they have fruit. Here is a simple tool you can use to determine if the foods you are buying actually contain the fruits they say are in the food. Look at the ingredients for two things: 1- food dyes like Red#40, Blue #2 or Red #3. 2 - Watch out for words that you do not understand. If you can not pronounce the ingredients or you get confused as to what they are, then chances the food is not good for you.
Natural News made a great video explaining the deceptive marketing strategies that companies use to fool us into buying junk foods.

Your Health Account
Posted on 2011-08-16 07:59:19
Think of your health like a bank account. You are allowed to make withdrawals and deposits into your "Health Account" all throughout your life. Now picture every healthy thing you do as a 'deposit'. For example you go for a walk, that's a deposit. You eat a bowl of blueberries and drink a tall glass of water, that's another deposit. Some deposits are better than others, but all deposits will increase your "Health Account." Getting an adjustment is a large deposit into your account. Eating one strawberry is a small deposit, but both are good.
The flip side is a 'withdrawal' from your account. Think of every unhealthy thing you do or have done as a withdrawal from your "Health Account." For example if you smoke every time you light up you are making a withdrawal, which will decrease your health. Every time you eat a sugary treat you make another withdrawal. Constantly being stressed out or worrying about life's stresses will drain your account. Some withdrawals take more out than others, but all withdrawals decrease your "Health Account."
Just like your bank account if all you do is take money out you will go 'broke' very quickly. If you constantly make deposits then your account will remain full. The goal should be to keep your "Health Account" as full as possible. Nobody goes through life only making deposits. All of us will take money out of the account from time to time. The key to living a healthy, active life is to limit your withdrawals and make as many deposits as possible. If you drink a large soda for lunch, make sure you balance that out by exercising. Most of us need help figuring out what is healthy and how to implement healthy choices into our day to day lives so that we can live a long, active, healthy life. The life we were "Intended" to live.
If you need or want help learning how to increase your "Health Account' then call me or email me and I will gladly guide you in the right direction.
Good luck and God Bless,

Nutrition

Proper nutrition may be the missing link in your road to recovery. Most of us are saturated with false information about what is and what is not healthy. If you have been eating foods that are void of nutrition, then your body will become toxic from the chemicals in your food. You will also be deficient in the vitamins and minerals that you need. The result is a toxic and deficient body that is prone to sickness, injuries and chronic fatigue. If you are not consuming the nutrients your body needs then your body can not maintain it's normal physiological activities. The end result is body that can not heal, has less energy and gets sick easier.
A deficiency in any nutrient can and will lead to serious health problems. Learning what foods contain which vitamins and minerals is vital to helping you pick the right foods to eat. Changing your nutritional habits does not have to be painful. Eating healthy can be fun and exciting. If you would like any help please let me know and I will gladly help. Choosing to live healthy is the first step.

Continuing Education

This weekend I will be continuing my post graduate education at a nutritional seminar. This weekend I will be studying how to use natural alternative strategies for many of the top health threats we, as Americans face. Using chiropractic care, nutrition and proper supplementation to help the body heal safely, quickly and provide a foundation for continued health is what I strive to do. I have been working towards earning an Applied Clinical Nutrition certification for awhile and this weekends seminar is another step towards my goal.
Our bodies were designed to use healthy, natural foods that contain the most pure nutrients to maintain our health. Unfortunately we have grown up with diets that are deficient of nutritional value and toxic with chemicals that rob us of our health. Creative advertising and fancy marketing strategies have allowed us to consume mass quantities of unhealthy foods; robbing us of our health and taking years from our lives. The more I study and expand my understanding of how the body works the better I can assist all my patients, friends and family. You deserve the best and you deserve to live a healthy life and I am honored to be a part of your health care.
I pray you have a great weekend and I look forward to serving you to the best of my abilities. Have a great weekend and God Bless! Dr. Nimphius
